The Washington Post is reporting on 6 likely cases of swine flu in Anne Arundel & Baltimore.
Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and officials from the state’s health department have confirmed that the six infected residents were probably infected when either themselves or a close relative traveled to sites where the virus is already spreading, including Mexico and the Caribbean.
The 3 infected Anne Arundel residents are in the same family, 2 of the Baltimore residents are also related, while the last person has no relationship to any of the other infected persons.
Two of those infected are children who attended school while sick. Maryland officials have contacted parents from the schools and are prepared to take serious precautions.
The State of Maryland has begun stock piling anti-viral medication to deal with additional infections they expect will soon arise.
