Commuter Connections – Find a new way to Commute
If you’ve thought about carpooling, taking the train or even tele-working and have put off the idea for one reason or another, maybe it’s time to revisit the idea. Take a look at Commuter Connections
http://www.mwcog.org/commuter2/
It’s a site run by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments that helps commuters get to their places of work faster or even telecommute.
One of the best features on the site is a rideshare application. After you register for free on the site, you can type in where you live, where you work and what time you arrive and leave the office. The website then will automatically search for people that work and live in your vicinity and have a similar schedule. Upon finding a good match, it will provide you with the phone number your matches entered so you can figure out the carpool with them.
One of the most common complaints with carpooling has always been, “what if something comes up?” Commuter Connections addresses that concern with their “Guaranteed Ride Home” program.
And if you’re a commuting junkie, check out Arlington’s CommuterPage.com, the site is loaded with up-to-date news and information for commuters, particularly those in Arlington. They also have an active blog CommuterPageBlog, “Live work and play in the D.C. metro area….no car required.”.
