Eco-Tours This Weekend All Over DC

215377305_1b1a9c4432Each year, Cultural Tourism DC hosts a bunch of great tours around the city. The topics of the tours range from Spies of Georgetown to former slave plantations in Adams-Morgan. The tours are being held this weekend and are a free way to get to know the city a lot better.

One of the most interesting tours being held this year is the Green Building Eco-Tour. This bike tour takes you around to see LEED certified buildings in DC and gives some incite into the emerging trend of “green building” in the nation’s capital. The sponsors for the tour are Wholeness for Humanity, Friends of the Earth and DC’s Department of the Environment. To read more info on this tour, check out the Cultural Tourism DC website HERE.

In addition to the Green Building Eco-Tour, you could learn more about the intersection of faith and environmentalism at the Interfaith Eco-Tour by Bike. The tour will highlight the importance of interfaith initiatives and the impact they can have on the environment. Participants will travel to historical religious sites in the city like Embassy of the Vatican, Washington Hebrew Congregation and the Islamic Center of Washington. Again, visit the website HERE.
