I just called Fletcher's Boathouse which is right on Capital Crescent Trail. They said that while you cannot use their dock to launch, it is easy to launch your own kayak into the canal right on the shore line. During high tide they recommend launching a few feet down from their dock. During low tide they recommend launching at the canal shore near the parking lot. The Thompson Boat Center charges $3.

I am heading to DC with my mom. We love to kayak and would like to fit in a quick 2-3 hour paddle. Can someone suggest the best place to rent/launch from and the best trip possible within our time constraints? Thanks! lostkennedy@gmail.com
