$800,000 Coming to Clean-Up Rock Creek

2526017369_0a1bb8d988The District Department of the Environment was in a bragging mood yesterday when it announced that the US Fish and Wildlife Service chose DDOE’s low-impact development proposal as the recepient of an $800,000 clean-up grant.

The proposal outlined the District’s plan to implement stormwater runoff controls to prevent further pollution of Rock Creek, the Chesapeake Bay and drinking water supplies. The grant money will be spent on green roofs, vegetation, porous pavement to absorb runoff and more. Over 15 acres surrounding Rock Creek will be directly impacted by the new efforts.
