Everybody knows DC is full of lobbyists, grassroots advocates and activists trying to influence Congress. But what about our own local government? One of the biggest challenges in a town like this is getting people to care about what is happening here at home and not just in the federal government. If you want to take an active role in shaping Washington’s environmental laws, Friends of Rock Creek’s Environment is organizing an advocacy workshop that teaches locals how to “sell” green solutions to local, state and regional decision-makers. Specifically, the workshop will emphasize restoration activities for our rivers, bays and creeks.
The workshop is being held this Saturday, June 13th from 9:00 – 12:00. Registration begins at 8:30. The sessions will be taught at the Metro Washington Council of Governments (777 North Capitol Street, NE) on the 1st floor. Make sure you RSVP by June 11th by emailing anacostia@mwcog.org.
