.5 gallon per minute flow rates are in my opinion adequate for the bathrooms but you may have a personal preference for a little higher than that so there is a 1 and 1.5 gpm aerator. For the kitchen I personally like a higher flow rate of 2.2 gpm but again there are various levels Here are a few links to examples, you can't buy on the site but you can get these at any hardware store.

What level would you recommend for the various faucets in our homes? What is appropriate for the kitchen faucet vs. the bathroom faucet?

If you are going to install faucet aerators you should know that there are various levels of water saving aerators. Most low flow aerators start at 2.2 gallons per minute but they do go as low as .5 gallons per minute. Something to think about when you are deciding to install these and how much water you can actually save compared to a standard aerator that can allow as much as 5 gallons per minute. You can get these at any typical hardware store and they only cost a few dollars.
