Metro Gets First Stimulus Funds
- by Brandon Fuller on Thursday, June 11, 2009
The first wave of money from the stimulus bill has arrived for Metro. The $17.7 million has already been allocated to track improvements, chemical detection systems, fare machine upgrades and a new Metro sales center.
This is a drop in the bucket for Metro’s stimulus expectations. A full $200 million was initially dedicated to public transportation improvements in DC. Applications for the remaining funds are currently being reviewed and finalized.
