This Tuesday, August 11, at 7pm author Anthony Flint will speak at Politics and Prose, that great independent bookstore north of Van Ness, on his book Wrestling With Moses: How Jane Jacobs Took on New York’s Master Builder and Transformed the American City.

For folks interested in sustainable cities, complete streets, and other initiatives to reuse and rebuild our human habitat, the author and professor Jane Jacobs paved the way. With her book The Death and Life of Great American Cities, she took on the establishment, including Robert Moses, New York’s ‘master builder’. Come hear the harrowing tales of 1960s debates between public transportation and highways, suburban sprawl and tight knit communities – all of which continue to be relevant.
