The first week of September brought us a mixture of weather patterns. Warm and sunny days were followed by damper, cooler ones. The ones that remind us that the fall is near and so is the upcoming heating season. So before it got too cold it is a good idea to prepare ourselves and our homes for the most efficient autumn.
- Open your drapes and blinds to let natural sunlight for light and heat purposes.
- Get a warm natural wool blanket to keep you nice and cozy.
- Instead of turning the heat up, wear an extra layer of clothing.
- Seal all possible leaks, to ensure you are not losing any heat through doors or windows.
- Heat only the rooms you use and only when you use them.
- And spend more time outdoors!
Fall in DC can be the most beautiful season of all. After summer heat backs off, it is time to enjoy the outdoors, to go biking, hiking, or for a simple stroll or a picnic.
