Green Living Tip Tues: Tree Hugging Kids

31262998_c075ef29e0Making green choices should not be your personal concern alone – involve your family, and especially kids to follow your example.  Children are the best learners and these tips could help form their life-long habits. So make sure everybody in the family learns to:

  • Turn the water off while brushing their teeth;
  • Take shorter, cooler showers;
  • Say “No” to bags at toy or clothes stores, as well as grocery stores.  Make sure they have their own bags to bring;
  • Use recycled paper for arts and crafts and homework;
  • Many items found at home can be recycled to make one of a kind toys;
  • Walk, carpool, or take the bus to school;
  • Turn off lights and appliances/electronics when not in use.
  • Involve the kids into recycling, let them sort.
  • Spend more time outside.
These easy fun tips will teach your kids important lessons, help save the environment, and hopefully will free some cash for family fun!

  • Great advice. It is important to make kids aware of these things. Later on it will just come naturally.
  • Another great way kids can go green is by packing their lunches in reusable containers. Instead of sending them to school with lots of soon-to-be garbage like juice boxes, plastic baggies and single-serving packages of chips, carrots and cookies, put everything in washable, long-lasting containers!
