It is not enough to lead a green life at home, it is important to bring your green habits to work too. Most of us feel uneasy about imposing our rules on other people, but a good example and suggestion can do miracles. Do not be afraid to address your boss about the issues that concern you – with the right approach going green is cost effective. Here are some tips that would help you start your green office campaign:
- Rethink your commute, walk or bike if possible, use public transportation, share a ride, or, even better – telecommute!
- Set computers to energy-saving settings and make sure to shut them down when you leave at the end of the day.
- Save paper: buy recycled, reuse, print on both sides and use e-mail as much as possible.
- Use eco friendly office supplies.
- Switch the lights of in offices and areas that are not used.
- Bringing lunch to work in reusable containers is likely the greenest (and healthiest) way to eat at work.
- Recycle!
- Share these tips with your colleagues and your boss!
Greening your home and work spaces do not only translate into smaller carbon footprint, but also to healthier, more productive and less stressful everyday life.
