Welcome to City Renewed.
We are pleased to share with you the most comprehensive resource guide about Green Living in the DC metropolitan area. Our goal is to provide you with all the information you need to live a happier, healthier and more eco-friendly life in the nation’s capital.
This site was born out of the need to make green living more feasible and practical. We understand the time constraints that people have on their schedules and sometimes making eco-friendly choices in our daily lives requires research and effort. We strive to minimize that effort and provide you with the information and tools to make being green easier.
This site is built and maintained by a community of enthusiasts who want to see a better environment for our future. We invite you to provide your thoughts and feedback about the website. We also welcome article submissions and ideas.
Enjoy.
Be Green!
The Staff
Seth Berger – Editor
Seth is a DC area native and is passionate about the environment. When he’s not in front of his computer working on this site, you can find him kayaking near the falls, biking the C&O or sailing on the Potomac. Seth has been working in web technology since 1999, when he co-founded Estco.net, a software and web development company. In 2006 he sold the company to WhittmanHart. He enjoys traveling around the world, photography, and volunteering on trash pickups on the Potomac.
Brandon Fuller
Brandon Fuller works at the intersection of environmental policy and communications. Currently, he publishes a blog on environmental issues and green living that has been featured in the Washington Post Express, Washingtonian.com, GreenPlanet.com and more. He is also a member of the advisory committee for CarbonFreeDC, a grassroots initiative dedicated to mobilizing DC-area residents to dramatically reduce local carbon emissions. He recently earned a law degree in environmental law and policy and has served as both a Law Clerk and Legislative Assistant for the State of Florida.
Jocelyn Allen
Jocelyn stumbled onto a Greenpeace canvassing job in ‘07. Thus began her journey of earth-friendly lifestyle changes and ongoing realization that nature is a wise teacher worth saving. She has found leaving a light, nontoxic footprint on both our bodies and planet and striving for peace is deeply rewarding. Other interests include playing guitar, theme parties, writing, yoga and bartering. She works at Go Mama Go! and is a holistic nutrition counselor-in-training.
Moses McCall
Moses is a web programmer (formerly for NASA) whose work includes marketing the popular DC nonprofit Eco-Green Living, creating an online social networking tool for apartment buildings, and more. Green issues are Moses’ passion; salsa dancing is his hobby.
Rory Huntly
Rory graduated in 2006 from Davidson College with a degree in Theater. Upon graduating, he ventured into the business arena at McMaster-Carr Supply Company working as an inventory control supervisor. During this time, he developed an understanding of sales strategy, supply chain operations, and inventory control. All the while, he independently fostered his passion for clean energy. In 2008, he left McMaster-Carr and moved to Washington, DC to intern at the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) and Eco-Coach. Currently, he is interning at the Alliance to Save Energy and planning on going to business school in the Fall of 2009.
Bea Trickett
Bea has always been really excited to learn lots of useful hands-on skills & then share them with others– or barter with folks who maybe don’t have the time to learn to grow their own veggies or fix their own houses or bikes or make websites or pickles and jams. Living largely outside the economic system (besides rent, utilities, and cat food!), Bea’s typical week consists of 2 days of paid work, which leaves the rest of the week to throw her time into an array of exciting activities. It becomes a self-perpetuating freeing lifestyle where if you work less & do more for yourself, you need less money and have more time to do more! Her goals for the future focus on becoming an urban farmer producing a marketable amount of organically-grown vegetables in Dc within the next 2 years.
Kenneth Trinh
Kenneth is college student, raised up in Chantilly, Virginia. He has a great passion for the environment, seeks every opportunity possible to promote the green lifestyle.
