There has been a lot of gay marriage excitement in the news lately. A few weeks ago, Iowa’s Supreme Court unanimously approved gay marriages in the state. Just this week, Vermont’s legislature passed a gay marriage law with a veto-proof majority. Now, DC’s council has approved a measure that would allow same-sex couples with marriage licenses from other states to register as married couples in the District.
It’s no secret that DC has a large gay population. With this new law, possibly thousands of couples could be heading for the airport to find a state that will marry them so they can bring their certificate back to the District.
