Put Money on Your Smart Trip Card at CVS

Unfortunately, my employer doesn’t automatically put money on my Metro Smart Card for public transportation, so I’m excited that now CVS and Giant are allowing card holders to add money to the card in their stores. Metro Gets First Stimulus Funds

The first wave of money from the stimulus bill has arrived for Metro. The $17.7 million has already been allocated to track improvements, chemical detection systems, fare machine upgrades and a new Metro sales center. 

This is a drop in the bucket for Metro’s stimulus expectations. A full $200 million was initially dedicated to public transportation improvements in DC. Applications for the remaining funds are currently being reviewed and finalized.
