Congressman Jim Moran of Virgnia is looking to expand preservation of land along the Potomac River. His approach would include a grant program of $50 million per year to acquire land for conservation, environmental and recreational purchases.

The new program would be a simple update to the 1930 Capper-Cramton Act, which authorized the purchase of green space along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, George-Washington Parkway and Rock Creek Parkway.
