If you live in Falls Church, you may begin seeing windmills popping up along the horizon. The city has submitted a request for $25 million in federal stimulus money for green initiatives.
In addition to windmills, city officials say the stimulus funds would also go to energy efficient LED traffic and street lights, geothermal heating and cooling for local buildings and a switch to a hybrid or hydrogen government car fleet.

The first wave of money from the stimulus bill has arrived for Metro. The $17.7 million has already been allocated to track improvements, chemical detection systems, fare machine upgrades and a new Metro sales center.
This is a drop in the bucket for Metro’s stimulus expectations. A full $200 million was initially dedicated to public transportation improvements in DC. Applications for the remaining funds are currently being reviewed and finalized.
